Jakarta Attractions
Jakarta EntertainmentThe first recorded settlement in Jakarta can be traced to a Hindu settlement as early as the 4th century. By the 15th century, it serves as a major port for spices trading. After a long struggle of power to conquer the spice trading, the Dutch occupied the city and changed the name to "Batavia", which it remained for 300 years. And under this period of Dutch occupation, the city flourished, especially around the area nowadays called Kota Tua/Old city. The Dutch Supreme Court, city jail, city hall, and all other government administration buildings were all located around this area. At present, some of these buildings are turned into museums. Further east of the Kota Area, are the old historical religious sites that are still utilized as places of worship.

MonasThe Dutch occupation encountered resistance from Indonesians. For hundred years, countless Indonesians lose their lives striving for the independence of the country. Finally in right timing in 1945, under the reign of Soekarno and Hatta, Indonesia declared its independent. Numerous monuments were erected to commemorate the struggles. One of the most prominent monument, which becomes Jakarta's Landmark, is the National Monument/Monas. This monument serves as one of the must-visited list of Jakarta's attractions.

Beside the National Monument, other places worth visiting are the art and cultural centers located across Jakarta. In these places, various plays, movies, books, paintings, and other fine art articles are available for public viewing. One of the famous art and cultural center is Taman Ismail Marzuki. In addition to the drama, plays and music performed, there is a planetarium for your star gazing enjoyment.

Finally, after a morning of educational tour of the historical sites, spend the rest of your day enjoying the deep-sea panorama while strolling through an 80-meter tunnel in Sea World Jakarta, watching komodo and other exotic animals in Ragunan Zoo, or visiting other Amusement Parks in Jakarta
